A troubled Holly Hill residence has been boarded up after a multi‑agency narcotics investigation uncovered drugs, a firearm, and hazardous living conditions that prompted immediate action from law enforcement and city officials.
The operation unfolded at 703 Marlene Drive, a home that had drawn repeated complaints from neighbors who reported ongoing drug activity and suspicious behavior. In response, the Holly Hill Police Department coordinated with the Volusia Bureau of Investigation and SWAT to serve a narcotics search warrant at the property earlier this week.
When officers entered the residence, they found nine adults living inside. Five of them were taken into custody and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail on charges connected to the investigation. Authorities say the arrests represent a significant step in addressing the criminal activity that had been troubling the neighborhood.
Investigators reported seizing small amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine during the search. They also recovered a handgun and ammunition, which were found in the possession of a convicted felon. The discovery of both narcotics and a firearm inside the home heightened concerns about the risks posed to the community.
After the criminal search concluded, officials from the Holly Hill Building and Zoning Department and Code Enforcement arrived to assess the condition of the property. Their inspection revealed severe structural and environmental issues, leading them to deem the residence uninhabitable. The home was immediately secured with boards to prevent re‑entry and to protect the surrounding area from further illegal activity.
The closure of the property marks a significant development for residents who had long voiced concerns about the location. Authorities say the investigation remains active as evidence continues to be reviewed, and additional actions may follow as the case progresses.
