The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Child Exploitation Unit has arrested 31‑year‑old Oliver Almonte (DOB: 7/30/1995) of Deltona, concluding a disturbing investigation into allegations he repeatedly engaged in sexual activity with an underage girl — and possibly more victims.
Detectives launched the case in June after receiving a report that Almonte was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a minor. What began as a single allegation quickly expanded into a full‑scale investigation as detectives uncovered thousands of text messages between Almonte and the victim. According to investigators, the messages referenced sexual acts, plans to skip school to meet for sex, and repeated instructions from Almonte urging secrecy.
The victim later disclosed to detectives that she and Almonte had 10 sexual encounters between May 19, 2026, and early June, detailing a pattern of manipulation, secrecy, and escalating sexual contact.
As detectives pieced together the timeline, they executed search warrants, reviewed digital evidence, and conducted interviews that painted a clearer picture of Almonte’s actions. Investigators say the volume of messages and the explicit nature of the conversations demonstrated a sustained effort by Almonte to groom and exploit the victim.
On Monday, detectives moved in to arrest Almonte. According to the Sheriff’s Office, he resisted officers during the arrest but was ultimately taken into custody without injury. He now faces four counts of lewd and lascivious battery involving a victim between the ages of 12 and 16, along with a charge of resisting arrest.
Almonte is currently being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail on a $200,500 bond.
But the case is far from over.
Detectives say they are actively pursuing additional charges after uncovering evidence suggesting Almonte may have had sexual contact with another teenage girl. Investigators are reviewing digital communications, interviewing potential witnesses, and working to determine the full scope of Almonte’s actions.
The Child Exploitation Unit praised the victim for her courage in coming forward and emphasized that cases like this often reveal additional victims once the investigation begins.
Authorities urge anyone with information related to Almonte or similar incidents to contact the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
